Secure The Caravan Safe In Vehicles

Vehicle Fixing Kit - It cannot be emphasized enough just how crucial it is to secure your valuable possessions in your vehicle when you have to leave them unattended just as it is in your residential home, office, factory, caravan or motor home.

NB: Half way down this page we explain how to install the Vehicle Fixing Kits.

Any home handyman should be able to install a

Vehicle Fixing Kit with tools they already own.

Vehicle Fixing Kits Are Available In Two Styles

Vehicle Fixing Kits are available in two styles, depending on where in the vehicle the Vehicle Fixing Kit will be installed depends on which type is used.

1. A Steel Bracket - manufactured from 3mm thick steel and powder coated black. The vertical backing plate of the steel bracket, as you can see in the picture below and to your left, is fitted with m5x8mm Vehicle Fixing Kit Steel Bracket fitted to the floor of a Jackaroo 4 WD. Showing the clinch studs pressed into the steel backing plate, making the back of the steel backing plate smooth.high tensile clinch studs with shake proof washers and high tensile nuts to match the existing fixing holes in the Caravan Safe Docking Station.

The clinch studs attached to the steel backing plate by pressing them through the steel under high pressure, making the back of the steel backing plate smooth.

The advantage of this manufacturing technique is, having no nuts on the outside of the steel backing plate ensures if a thief does break into a vehicle fitted with a Vehicle Fixing Kit there are no nuts they can undo to remove the Caravan Safe.

Depending on the vehicle make, model, year and type depends were the Vehicle Fixing Kit is installed eg. in the boot, under the front seat, in the back of a Hatch Back, in the rear of a 4 wheel Drive or Station Wagon. We have Vehicle Fixing Kits that are vertical, horizontal, on 30 and 45 degree angles.

If one of our numerous Vehicle Fixing Kits cannot be installed in your vehicle we will custom design one for you FREE OF CHARGE.
2. A piece of Marine PlyMarine Ply is used to fit a Docking Station under a vehicles parcel shelf or to the floor in a boot. Marine Ply is also used to secure a Docking Station under the front seat in some vehicles. that is fitted under a parcel shelf or flat to the floor in the boot. The Vehicle Fixing Kit / Docking StationMarine Ply used as a Vehicle Fixing Kit secured under a parcel shelf in a Commodore Sedan VT / VY, also showing the Docking Station. picture to your left is a version that is installed under a parcel shelf as per the fitted one in the picture to your right. NB: Marine Ply is also used to secure a Docking Station under the front seat in some vehicles.

Double Vehicle Fixing Kit

For those times you need to secure two Caravan Safes in your vehicle there is no need to install two Vehicle Fixing Kits as we have an easier solution to achieve this.Double Docking Station bolted to an angled Double Vehicle Fixing Kit installed in a Nissan Pathfinder.

A Double Vehicle Fixing Kit is made from the same material and manufacture and finished as per the Steel Bracket Vehicle Fixing Kit, which you can read about above. We also have versions for most vehicles sold and if we have not previously designed one for your vehicle we will design one for you FREE OF CHARGE.

How Secure Is Your Safe In A Vehicle Fixing Kit

Safe Box secured in a Vehicle Fixing Kit Steel Bracket with an Abloy PROTEC Lock in a Jackaroo 4 WD.Whether the Vehicle Fixing Kit is a Steel Bracket or Marine Ply version once the Caravan Safe is slid in and locked with either an Abloy Classic Lock or an Abloy PROTEC Lock the Caravan Safe is absolutely secure and THEFT PROOF.

When the Caravan Safe is slid into the Docking Station, that has been previously fitted to the Vehicle Fixing Kit and locked with the supplied Abloy High Security Key all the fixings used to install the Vehicle Fixing Kit are inaccessible. How ingenious is that...

Please Note

The price for a Vehicle Fixing Kit DOES NOT INCLUDE a Docking Station. If you intend to install the Docking Station that is included with the Caravan Safe in your residential home, office, factory, caravan or motor home and you also purchase a Vehicle Fixing Kit you will need to purchase another Docking Station to be fitted to the Vehicle Fixing Kit.

When purchasing a Vehicle Fixing Kit, for your convenience, we will fit a Docking Station to the Vehicle Fixing Kit FREE OF CHARGE before it leaves our factory.

How to Install A Steel Bracket Vehicle Fixing Kit

When installing a Vehicle Fixing Kit first, remove the Docking Station from it by undoing the high tensile nuts and washers securing it. Then install the Vehicle Fixing Kit to your vehicle, finally fit the Docking Station back onto the Vehicle Fixing Kit Steel Bracket by screwing the high tensile nuts and washers back onto the Vehicle Fixing Kit clinch studs.

How to Install A Marine Ply Vehicle Fixing Kit

When you receive the Marine Ply Vehicle Fixing Kit a Docking Station has already been securely fitted to it. Do not remove it. All that is required to fit it to your vehicle is:

Bullet Hold the Marine Ply Vehicle Fixing Kit to the position it is going to be installed to, this is normally under the parcel shelf or to the floor in the boot and in some vehicles to the floor under the front passengers seat.
Bullet With a pencil mark the position where you are going to place all the fixings on the Marine Ply Vehicle Fixing Kit.

The Following Is Only A Guide About How To Install

Bullet A Docking Station - a minimum of 3 fixings, preferably 4 at the front and preferably 4 fixings at the rear.
Bullet A Double Docking Station - a minimum of 5 fixings, preferably 6 spaced evenly along the front and preferably 6 fixings at the rear.

NB: Some vehicle makes / models have punched out electrical wiring access holes in the steel parcel shelf frame which may coincide with a chosen fixing location. Simply bypass that location and place your chosen fixing as close as possible to the punched out hole.

NB: The front fixings must be located inside the Docking Station to enable the Safe Box to slide in unhindered.

Bullet Pre-drill a pilot hole through the Docking Station and the Marine Ply at the front and through the Marine Ply at the rear.

NB: You may also use existing screw hole positions in the front of the Docking Station if any are more convenient to use. To do this remove existing screw / s and replace them with your chosen fixing whether being a high tensile bolt and nut, security screw or tek screw. Use your chosen fixing through the Marine Ply at the rear.

NB: Different vehicle makes / models may require different lengths of Marine Ply. If the Marine Ply supplied is a little too long for any unexplained reason, simply cut it back to the required length.

Bullet Depending on how you intend to screw the fixings in (either by hand or with a drill with the appropriate screwdriver bit in it) depends on what you do next.

Bullet If using a drill with a screwdriver bit, hold the Marine Ply Vehicle Fixing Kit in position and screw the first fixing through the parcel shelf, to the floor in the boot or to the floor under the front seat. Once in position screw in the remain fixings.
Bullet If screwing by hand, you will have to pre-drill the parcel shelf, the floor in the boot or to the floor under the front seat and then screw the fixings in by hand.

NB: If installing flat to the floor in the boot, you must make sure that:

Bullet You are fixing into a steel floor pan or chassis. Fixing to cardboard or timber floor or to a polystyrene infill, as are in some vehicle makes and models, IS NOT acceptable under any circumstance.
Bullet When fixing to a totally flat surface with full steel support underneath and to the floor with carpet or rubber matting eg. under front seat, then the Marine Ply maybe able to be substituted in some vehicles with either.

Bullet A 6mm ply base. This keeps the Docking Station on a flat surface and takes out any uneven pressure exerted when installing to the floor.
Bullet OR - A 3mm steel plate when the surface is slightly undulating such as under the front seat in some vehicle makes and models.

Very Important

When installing a Vehicle Fixing Kit YOU MUST FIRST CHECK what is underneath or behind the position of installation before you drill the first hole to ensure your chosen fixing will not penetrate for example, the petrol tank or electrical wiring.

Please Note

Some vehicles cannot be fitted with a Vehicle Fixing Kit for various reasons (loan cars etc). To over come this we have another High Security Solution that requires no permanent fixing to a vehicle or other temporary locations (such as a motel room) and is as secure as a fitted Vehicle Fixing Kit called a Shroud and Cable.

Once a Docking Station has been fitted to the Shroud and Cable the Caravan Safe can be slid into it and locked with the supplied High Security Abloy Key. Detailed information about the Shroud and Cable...
